About
Us
Outback Encounter was officially founded in 1998.
This was a result of founder Drew Kluskas' experience hosting
guests in 1996 and 1997 in Kenya at one of the flagships of
East African tourism, Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy.
As
a result Drew returned home from Kenya in late 1997 determined
to supply and create a unique product within Australia that
allowed discerning travellers to experience the richness of
the Australian Outback and its people.
Being
raised on a property in rural South Australia, Drew had an
affinity with the Australian bush and after attending boarding
school and completing his tertiary education at the University
of Adelaide majoring in Agricultural Science, he worked for
4 ½ years in an advisory role for agricultural companies.
This
combination of experience of Tourism in Kenya and Agriculture
in Australia brought about the opportunity for Drew to utilise
the personal contacts he had into Outback Australia. This
allows travellers to experience exclusive destinations and
an authentic side of Australia whilst maintaining the comforts
of home. Drew emphasises that he is dedicated to allowing
travellers to, "experience the treasures we love about our
country, not necessarily the icons but the secret destinations
known and treasured by the locals who are your hosts and guides
throughout your stay."
The
destinations Drew offers to travellers always maintain the
highest levels ecological sensitivity and sustainability.
This is reflected in the passion he, the destinations and
people he utilises have for the country.
Travellers
are rewarded with an unrivalled experience of Australia through
the eyes of those who know it best The Locals, whilst always
maintaining an exceptional standard of quality in all areas.
UNIQUE
FEATURES
Outback Encounter is a very special travel company,
providing specialised custom designed itineraries to our favourite
undiscovered private destinations throughout the outback and
wilderness of Australia.
We
offer you the opportunity to visit the Australia, people only
think of in their dreams. In conjunction with our hand selected
destinations and hosts we reveal to you a side of Australia
that the majority of Australians do not even know still exists.
In simple terms we allow you to see the treasures we love
about our country. With private access into many areas and
destinations, we can offer an insight into the authentic Australia.
We
utilise private air charters to make the best use of your
time, in this vast country. You select your own travel dates.
We can arrange your safari anytime you want to go and can
advise you on the best times and locations.
These
safaris are truly "people to people" experiences. Rather than
visiting large lodges filled with crowds of tourists, your
conversations are with your hosts and the local Australians
who have inhabited the land for generations. You will return
home with new and often lifetime friends.
Never
crowded - Our parties range from couples and honeymooners
to larger groups of family and friends travelling together.
With your own private party, you may take as much or as little
time as you like for those precious photographs. No need to
rush to keep up with the group - you are the group
We suggest few stops of three to five properties so you may
enjoy longer in-depth visits at each place. However we listen
to you the client and tailor each exciting journey specifically
to suit your individual interests, whatever your passion.
