Charters of Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island, South Australia
This
is your opportunity to explore this unique island with a local
professional naturalist guide. Travel in 4WD comfort and enjoy
quality food and wine while visiting traditional destinations
and remote places only a local can show you.
Adventure
Charters of Kangaroo Island is owned and operated by Craig
and Janet Wickham. Craig is a local involved in tourism, conservation
management and farming. With extensive local knowledge, professional
environmental training and three years' experience as a National
Parks and Wildlife Service ranger, Craig has developed a program
providing a blend of hospitality and environmental understanding.
The
Island's diverse landscapes provide ideal habitats for sealions,
fur seals, endemic kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, echidnas,
platypus, goannas, 243 bird species (many rare or endangered),
possums, bandicoots, and even whales. Except for the whales,
which pass through in winter, others are present all year.
Combine
this with a population of only 4000 people, amid stunning
scenery, and you have a holiday destination both stimulating
and relaxing.
Referred
to by many as Australia's nature island. Kangaroo Island offers
a wonderful range of wildlife in pristine locations. The third
largest island off the coast of Australia, almost half is
virgin bush, Kangaroo Island is wildlife enthusiasts dream.
Approximately a third of Kangaroo Island is either Conservation
or National Park and in the absence of introduced species
such as rabbits and foxes the native wildlife thrives.
As
a traveller to KI said "Looking for an off-the-beaten-path
paradise? Try Australia's Kangaroo Island. The shopping's
lousy, the disco's non-existent, but the scenery is spectacular
and the flora and fauna unique."
