Faraway Bay
Kimberley, Western Australia

On the northwest corner of the vast Australian continent, there is a place so remote you won't find the name Faraway Bay on any map. It feels like the edge of forever, where a few days can feel like a week, and a week can change you eternally. Time appears to stand still and when it does move, it's measured in tides and sunsets.

Getting there is truly part of the adventure, with access strictly limited to sea and air. Light aircraft will fly you in from Kununurra over some of the most breathtaking scenery on earth to the private airstrip and then by 4WD for the final few kilometres to the Bush Camp.

The highlight of your stay may well be when the 13-metre cruiser Diamond Lass takes you along the coast to the King George River with its towering sandstone cliffs, ending with the majestic twin waterfalls. If the falls are flowing its time for one of the most invigorating fresh water natural jacuzzis you will experience as the Diamond Lass edges up the rock face.

Owners Bruce and Robyn Ellison discovered the protected bay, near Cape Londonderry in the Timor Sea 13 years ago, and instantly felt it would make the perfect coastal Bush Camp. Bruce should know as he had been constructing camps for exploration companies all across the East Kimberley Diamond Coast. In Bruce's words "Even I had never seen such a pristine spot".

In the evening it is time to relax and soak in the ambience of this remote and pure wilderness. Enjoy a fine Australian wine as you sit back and be tantalised by the delicious aromas of freshly caught fish being cooked with herbs. On at least one evening you must treat yourself to the ultimate seafood dining experience of freshly collected oysters from the rocks combined with the northern delicacy of mudcrabs.

Faraway Bay caters for a maximum of 12 guests at any time, so your privacy is ensured. Wake up each morning to birdsong and drift off each evening to gentle ocean sounds. It is remote yet sophisticated with cabins giving an open-air feeling.

When your batteries need a recharge, spirit yourself away to the most idyllic Faraway Bay you could ever imagine. Take time to experience timelessness in an untamed wilderness.

Accommodation: Spectacularly sited, all eight secluded bush-style cabins enjoy 180-degree views of the ocean, combining a true remote experience with safety, comfort and style. A central modern ablution block provides the luxury of flushing toilets, hot and cold water and a washing machine. Eagle Lodge, the main lounging and dining area (without any walls!) overlooks the cliffside freshwater pool and Faraway Bay.

Special Activities:

- Cruising in a 13-metre ocean going boat "Diamond Lass" to The King George Falls, nearby islands and bays, or simply fishing. The cruises take you past awe-inspiring coves and red rock gorges; dugongs, dolphins, turtles and manta rays play in the jade blue waters whilst small fish dart in and out of the waves.
- Other activities available are bush and rock climbing, beach combing, flora and fauna watching, photography, painting, ocean sports fishing, star gazing, exploring - or just relaxing.
- Scenic Coastal Cruising, Secluded Relaxation, Star Gazing, Freshwater Plunge Pool, Beachcombing remote islands, Amazing Sealife
