Kimberley Coastal Camp
Kimberley, Western Australia

Located on the remote, stunning shores of Admiralty gulf in the far north, Kimberley Coastal Camp is the ultimate retreat for those seeking a truly different wilderness escape.

Access into this beautiful and peaceful paradise is by sea or air only. Upon arrival into this eco-friendly camp, all you have to do is decide whether you want to be active or laid back; set your own pace and leave the rest to your wonderful hosts, Rocky and Liz Terry.

If fishing is the way you like to spend your time, you'll find the fishing in Admiralty Gulf truly magnificent. These really are untouched waters and you have access to huge tidal rivers, mangrove creeks, estuaries, offshore reefs and islands. There are also many deep-water options. The amazing variety of species of fish includes Barramundi, Mulloway, Mangrove Jack, Trevally, Mackerel, Tuna, Coral Trout, Cod and Blue Bone. Mud crabs and oysters also inhabit these pristine waters. Operating on a catch and release basis, only those fish destined for the Dinner table are retained from the day's catch.

For those wishing to explore this beautiful and rugged countryside, a half-hour walk from camp will take you to Mackerel Point; from here you can see the whole of Port Warrender and the nearby islands. Other walks will take you inland through wild terrain. Some of the species of birds that frequent the area include Great Billed Heron, Chestnut Rails, Grey Goshawks, Brown Tailed Flycatchers, Little Terns and Sea Eagles. You may also view some of the wildlife in their natural habitat including Crocodiles, Rock Wallabies and Quolls.

Take a scenic boat trip to one of the deserted islands waiting to be explored, or take a short helicopter flight from the camp to the spectacular Mitchell Falls. A longer flight will take you along the uninhabited coastline to surprising gorges, waterfalls and perfect picnic spots.

The north Kimberley is home to some of the oldest known rock paintings. The most well known rock paintings are the beautiful Bradshaw paintings. Hidden amongst rock faces and caves scattered over this ancient land, they are simply astounding. They have been dated at over twenty three thousand years old and represent a culture now lost in time.

After spending your day taking part in any of the activities on offer return to the luxurious permanent camp. Make use of the swimming pool overlooking Admiralty Gulf. Your gazebo style room has a view of the sea and is flyscreened. The cuisine at Kimberley Coastal Camp is exceptional.

Sunset is the time to relax, soak up the ambience and reflect on your day.

Accommodation: The camp is well appointed with guests enjoying their own "private space" in twin share, gazebo-style rooms. These spacious rooms have their own view of the sea, are flyscreened and also feature ceiling fans and reading lights. Showers and flushing toilets (on a share basis) are built ingeniously against a rock wall. Max capacity 8 guests

Special Activities:

- Whether your idea of a great holiday is exploring unspoilt wilderness and deserted islands, examining ancient rock art, fishing, watching wildlife and birds or simply lazing by a pool overlooking magnificent scenery, there is something special for everyone.
