Thorn
Park
Wine Country, South Australia
"Thorn
Park - an award winning gourmet retreat set in the midst of
the Clare Valley Wine Country."
Thorn
Park is an elegant 145-year-old homestead located among the
gently rolling hills and stately gums in the heart of the
Clare Valley. The homestead, which was built in the 1850's
from property-quarried stone and Mintaro slate, was rescued
from decay in 1985. Now, after extensive restoration and decoration,
the guesthouse provides the Valley's most inviting accommodation.
Your
attentive hosts David Hay and Michael Speers offer guests
a unique opportunity to relax and be pampered with warm hospitality
and fine food and wine. Admire the tasteful antiques and artwork
that decorate the lounge, dining and reading areas.
Situated
approximately 120kms north of Adelaide along the scenic route
to the Flinders Ranges, the Clare Valley has been described
as "the most unblemished wine region in Australia". Nearby
is the tiny township of Sevenhill, - the oldest winery in
the Valley, the historic Sevenhill Cellars and the church
of Saint Aloysius.
The
Clare Valley offers the traveller a diversity of attractions.
Taste the finest of wines, peruse the historic copper mining
town of Burra or the buildings of colonial Mintaro. A visit
to the stately Martindale Hall or exploring the Spring Gully
Reserve may also be on your agenda.
